Greens’ Sugarbush has been making maple syrup since 1851 and was started by my great great-grandparents. It has been operated every year since. As far as we know, it is one of the oldest continuing businesses in Iowa.
The maple syrup process usually starts in Mid-March and runs into early April. We have our Maple Festival Days on the last Sunday in March and the first Sunday in April. On these two days we welcome friends and visitors to enjoy a pancake and sausage meal, free wagon rides through the timber, pony rides for the kids and tours of the syrup making process. This has become a yearly destination event for many out of state as well as local visitors. Maple syrup is sold from the sugarbush in season and at the farm year round.
